# How to rename a device in a group

To change your device's name, follow these simple steps:

1. Open the **group** you want to share your location with.
2. Click on "**Location sharing**".
3. Change your device name under **Device** or remove it completely.

Device name is optional and it helps you differentiate between multiple devices.
Device name is also **end-to-end encrypted** and visible only to you and your group members.
