Location Sensitivity

Location sensitivity is used to fine-tune the place movement algorithm for each place individually in order to reduce false events or improve them if they are not being triggered. This feature is available in both Personal Space and Groups.

If place alerts are inaccurate, you can adjust these settings to improve them.

Optimization

The exact combination of settings that provides the best results highly depends on the place location, radius, signal strength, and your device model. Try what works best for you.

Active for All Users

If you are the owner of a group or created the place, you can apply these changes for all members or just for your current device.

  • Active for All Users: Settings are active for all users and all devices in the group for this specific place.
  • Device Only: Settings are active only on your current device.

Processing Delay

Set how long the app waits before reacting to place changes. Longer delays improve accuracy but may slow notifications, especially if the system limits the app.

Setting Description
No Delay Place movements are processed immediately. May produce more false place alerts if your signal is weak or you drive past the place.
Small Delay Depending on current location accuracy, the app can wait anywhere between 0–10 seconds before reacting to place movements.
Balanced Depending on current location accuracy, the app can wait up to 5–15 seconds before reacting to place movements. Some alerts might fail if the system stops the app while processing.
Longer Wait Waits up to 20–30 seconds before reacting to place movements. This will delay notifications, so make sure you are connected to the Internet and the app can run in the background without restrictions.

Location Accuracy

Choose how the app obtains a more accurate location during the selected delay. This helps improve alert accuracy with slightly increased battery usage.

Location Filtering

These options determine how the app filters out potentially inaccurate location data.

Setting Description
Ignore inaccurate locations Place alert will be ignored if the app cannot confirm the location as accurate. This might cause legitimate place movements to be ignored or delayed.
Refresh Only if Location Is Inaccurate Skips refresh if the current location is already accurate. Saves battery, but a wrong system location might cause false events.

Refresh Strategy

These options define when the app should actively request a new location update.

Setting Description
No Location Refresh Saves battery and trusts system accuracy. May cause false alerts with weak signal.
Before Alert Is Sent Gets an accurate location beforehand but may suppress or delay some alerts. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and the app can run in the background without restrictions.
After Alert Is Sent An accurate location is requested as the final step to ensure you don’t miss any alerts, but it might cause extra or false alerts.
